The Finance Students’ Society, HKUSTSU is a non-profit student organization founded in 1992. As the only student society connecting the HKUST Department of Finance and undergraduate students, we undertake the responsibility of promoting the interest of our members in Finance. We strive to nurture a sense of camaraderie and affection among members and student societies; to foster closer relationships with faculty members, alumni and students as well as to innovate and bring forth societal success.
After a year of consolidation, The Finance Students’ Society, HKUSTSU has become a rise of the phoenix, born of the fire. As a specialized society, we represent all business students majoring in Finance in HKUST. We endeavor to excel and surpass the expectation of all, and bear the responsibility to strive for the greatest benefits for our members.

'THE 29TH INAUGURATION CEREMONY

The 29th Inauguration Ceremony of The Finance Students' Society, HKUSTSU was successfully held on 9th June, 2021 (Wednesday) at Youth Square, Chai Wan. The Ceremony marked the official commencement of the 29th office of The Finance Students' Society, HKUSTSU. The theme this year, "Finis Coronat Opus", is a latin phrase meaning that the goal gives value to the ones that produced it, as the saying goes "The crown needs not to always be tangible, but you must work towards those that are meaningful".

The 29th Executive Committee would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our distinguished guests, past executive members, society representatives and helpers for their generous support.

As The 27th Executive Committee of The Finance Students' Society, HKUSTSU, Session 2019-2020, we are constantly inspired and motivated to explore new fields and learn from our experiences without the fear of failure. We are prepared to step forward into the unknown and explore the possibilities. Being the first ones to initiate may be seen challenging, but we as a whole are willing to face and undertake any challenges in the upcoming year.

Being the theme of Mentorship Program 2018 of The Finance Students’ Society, HKUSTSU, Zafiro accentuates the precious learning opportunity for our mentees, as well as giving prominence to the perpetual and lasting bonding between our mentors and mentees. 'The Second Annual Value Investing Challenge 2018'

The Second Annual Value Investing Challenge 2018 aims to promote value investing and encourages students to perform fundamental, bottom-up stock research in the Asia-Pacific Region. Contestants will value a publicly listed stock, write a research report and present the research.

Chartwell Capital will run workshops to discuss the expectations of the challenge. Feel free to attend the workshops and know more about the Challenge. Details of the seminars are as follows:

'The Third Joint University Investment Game 2018'

The Third Joint University Investment Game 2018 is a joint-university function opened to the all university students from Hong Kong. It is an investment series which includes investment workshops and investment simulation game. Participating students will learn basic financial knowledge through workshops and apply skills learnt by trading on simulator. The Champion can win a $30,000 cash prize whereas we provide up to $120,000 of total prizes!

'THE 26TH INAUGURATION CEREMONY'

The 26th Inauguration Ceremony of The Finance Student's Society, HKUSTSU was successfully held on 17th April, 2018 (Tuesday) at Citi Lecture Theatre (LT-A), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

The Ceremony is a significant event marking the official commencement of The 26th Session of The Finance Students’ Society, HKUSTSU. Our theme Farsi Avanti, meaning stepping forward in Italian, symbolizes that we are courageous to step forward into unknowns and explore the possibilities. Only by stepping forward can we get closer and closer to success. Despite failure and hardship, we would be perseverant and devoted to serving the Society. Taking the first step may be the hardest step, but having the courage to begin, we believe we would have the courage to succeed.


Our Society hereby expresses our sincere gratitude to all honorable guests, past executive committee members, society representatives and helpers who have attended the inauguration ceremony.

'Celestite - Mentorship Program 2017'

Celestite, also known as Celestine, is a blue crystal that symbolizes high frequencies and divine energies. Inspired by the novel, ‘The Celestine Prophecy’, Celestite symbolizes a journey of gaining insights from the sages. The 25th Inauguration Ceremony of The Finance Student's Society, HKUSTSU was successfully held on 25th April, 2017 (Tuesday) at Citi Lecture Theatre (LT-A), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

The Ceremony is a significant event marking the official commencement of The 25th Session of The Finance Students’ Society, HKUSTSU. Our theme "De Fide Fortis – From Faith Comes Strength" is chosen to express that we, The 25th Executive Committee, put our faith not only in our abilities to bring success and prosperity to the Society, but also in our perseverance and devotion to serve the Society.

Our Society hereby expresses our sincere gratitude to all honorable guests, past executive committee members, society representatives and helpers who have attended the inauguration ceremony.

Gyros, an epitome for the word “gyroscope”, is the most essential part of any navigation device, providing stabilization and maintaining orientation. Gyros is the theme for Mentorship Program 2016 of The Finance Students’ Society, HKUSTSU as it symbolizes the Program’s focus of maintaining long term relationships between mentors and mentees. Mentorship Program 2016 functions just like the gyroscope, leading mentees to find their directions for their future.
